Position: Project Director, Halcrow

My role: My role on this scheme is to direct and assist the Halcrow Project manager and team in delivering the project to time and Budget, whilst at the same time ensuring that the project delivers its primary goal of improving facilities and the link to the Island.

About me: I have 20 years experience in working on projects similar to this one throughout the UK and have been involved in projects in the South West previously. What I bring to this project team is enthusiasm and commitment and a willingness to listen to people’s perspective on things.

Gareth Robertshaw

Position: Project Manager, Halcrow

My role: I am the project manager for engineering consultants, Halcrow Group Ltd, and am leading the detailed design works for the quay strucures.

About me: I am a senior maritime engineer, experienced in the design of a variety of different types of port schemes and coastal defence works. My recent experience includes leading the detailed design of a major coastal defence scheme at Blackpool, where we worked in partnership with Birse Coastal.

Outside of work, I am a keen mountain biker and have recently got engaged to my long-term girlfriend, Caroline.

Nancy Pinnington

Position:  Environmental Co-ordinator, Halcrow

My role:  My role is to manage and co-ordinate the environmental aspects and issues associated with this scheme.  My day to day tasks will range from ensuring adequate surveys of sensitive receptors are undertaken to the development of monitoring regimes.  I will also be in constant liaison with the designers and engineers to ensure that adequate environmental mitigation measures are an integral part of the designs.  I will also be making sure the legal requirements of the scheme are satisfied through the production of suitable environmental documentation.  I will be liaising with the relevant statutory undertakers, local council representatives, The Duchy of Cornwall and other interested parties, such as local people, through an external consultation process.  I also hope to attend any public exhibitions that are planned as part of the scheme, in order to meet some of you in person.  I hope that my role will ensure that the environmental issues that surround the scheme are highlighted and that what we are doing to address these issues is as transparent as possible to the community as a whole.  

About me:  I graduated from York University in 1998 with a BSc in Coastal Management and Conservation.  I am a Senior Environmental Consultant and have been with Halcrow since August 2007.  I was primarily recruited by Halcrow to develop linkages between our Maritime, Coastal and Environmental Teams, as my main interest and expertise lie with Coastal and Marine matters.   Prior to Halcrow, I was with Jacobs (Babtie) for 6 years and was involved in flood defence and alleviation plans and projects on rivers, estuaries and coasts.
